World Pharmacists Day 2026 Celebrated at Unani Medicine & Allied Sciences, Jamia Millia Islamia

Unani Medicine & Allied Sciences, Faculty of Life Sciences, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, celebrated World Pharmacists Day 2026 on 25 September 2026 with great enthusiasm and active participation from faculty members, staff, students, alumni and distinguished guests.
The programme commenced on a serene and meaningful note with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by a student, who beautifully recited the verses, followed by the Jamia Tarana.
The programme was organised under the guidance and direction of Prof. Syed Naqui Kazim, Officiating Director, Unani Medicine & Allied Sciences, JMI, who welcomed the distinguished guests and addressed the gathering.
The event was graced by distinguished guest speakers Dr Sagheer Ahmad Siddiqui, Dr Mohammad Idris, and Mr Naeem Raza. The guest speakers were felicitated with mementos, and their addresses provided valuable professional insights, encouragement and guidance to the students. Their interaction highlighted the importance of pharmacists in healthcare and the growing opportunities and responsibilities in the field of Unani Pharmacy.

A major highlight of the celebration was the enthusiastic participation of students in various academic activities, including the Poster Competition, Quiz Competition and Drug Identification Competition. Students also contributed to the programme through short speeches and poetry, making the celebration engaging and meaningful.
The competitions were coordinated by Dr Fozia – Poster Competition, Dr Salma – Quiz Competition, and Dr Ambreen – Drug Identification Competition. Winners and participants were recognised for their efforts, knowledge and enthusiasm.
Another significant and proud moment of the programme was the felicitation of pass-out students who have successfully secured government positions as Unani Pharmacists. Their return to their alma mater as successful professionals was a moment of immense pride for the department. Their achievements were appreciated as an inspiration and encouragement for the present students to pursue excellence in their professional careers.
The programme was organised and coordinated by Dr Taiyyaba Razique, Faculty, Unani Medicine & Allied Sciences, JMI, who also delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the Officiating Director, distinguished guest speakers, faculty members, staff, competition coordinators, alumni, students and volunteers for their valuable contributions and cooperation in making the programme successful.
The celebration concluded with felicitation, prize distribution, a group photograph and Hi-Tea, providing an opportunity for interaction among guests, faculty members, alumni and students.
The celebration of World Pharmacists Day 2026 successfully reflected this year’s theme, “Empowering pharmacists for healthier futures,” and reaffirmed the commitment of Unani Medicine & Allied Sciences, Jamia Millia Islamia, towards promoting academic excellence, professional development and the important role of pharmacists in healthcare.
