Indian Railways passengers and businesses can avail the facility of the first-ever app-based end-to-end baggage or parcel delivery service in the country. Recently, baggage delivery service platform BookBaggage.com, launched its app-based parcel delivery service with Indian Railways on January 26, 2021. The startup provides luggage delivery service options for passengers – from home to home and station to home, while the passenger travels without carrying any luggage throughout the journey. BookBaggage started these services for airline passengers and now Indian Railways passengers and customers can avail of these services. The service will be provided in collaboration with Indian Railways. BookBaggage has also associated with IRCTC for the baggage delivery system for the Railways.

The services were launched with Indian Railways from Ahmedabad on Republic Day. The platform provides luggage delivery service options for passengers – from home to home, station to home. The pickup service starts at Rs. 125 for the first bag, weighing up to 25 kg, depending on the distance from station, and Rs. 50 for subsequent luggage and a nominal charge for transporting the luggage to the destination city by Indian Railways.
Similar home drop charges are levied based on distance in destination city. Luggage exceeding 25 kg will incur an extra cost. The maximum luggage that can be taken at one time is 35 kg, based upon World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines. Heavier luggage can be handled at extra cost.
