EC requests delhi police to register FIR against Gautam Gambhir for holding rally without permission
The East Delhi returning officer Saturday requested that police register a FIR against BJP candidate Gautam Gambhir for supposedly holding an open gathering in Jangpura without permission, authorities said.
The Gautam Gambhir (cricketer turned politician) is the BJP’s chosen one from the East Delhi Lok Sabha seat and is hollowed against AAP’s Atishi and senior Congress leader and ex minister of Delhi Govermnet, Arvinder Singh Lovely.
Returning officer, East Delhi parliamentary constituency, K Mahesh, has asked the Delhi Police to observe the issue and register a FIR against Gambhir, the authorities said.
The open gathering was hung on Thursday in Jangpura without permission, they said.
Police said they are yet to document a case in the issue.
Gambhir is making his constituent presentation from the seat and has been enduring an onslaught from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over claims that he had twofold passages in voters list.
